Meeting with Sebastien, Project Manager at Talan USA

Sebastien, Project Manager, answers our questions.

1. Could you introduce yourself and your career path?

I am a Project Manager within Talan’s Business Consulting unit. I joined the group following my graduation at Polytechnique Montreal in 2016. My first role as an application support analyst gave me the opportunity to apply industrial engineering principles in Finance in order to optimize processes. I now manage IT corporate investment banking projects focused on product control functions from the New York Branch.

2. What are your current duties/missions?

I am currently leading a product control efficiency program aimed at reducing waste and aligning IT services to the business’ needs. My essential duties & responsibilities are:

• Identify, measure, prioritize and follow-up corrective actions on recurring incidents in coordination with global stakeholders

• Manage change, ensuring the smooth onboarding of new technologies.

• Integrate new regulatory controls (SR11-7) within the existing IT architecture

• Define and follow KPIs/KRIs to monitor PnL and market risk production

3. What 3 words would you use to Introduce Talan?

Fulfillment: all consultants within Talan are assigned to high quality mandates which would not have been accessible otherwise. Talan accelerates one’s career path.

Satisfaction: because this is what we bring to our clients. We don’t limit ourselves to the mission statement – we’ll ensure to demystify the most complex problems.

Fair: yes, we work hard. For our clients. For Talan. We do so because Talan gives back to their consultants as the company grows.

4. At Talan, what is your playfield? How do you manage to explore it?

Client problems constitute my playfield. They can be technical or even organizational, simple or complex – They are all unique in their own way. I consider them as learning opportunities to thrive on and make sure no stone is left unturned.

5. Could you describe a strong memory since you have joined Talan?

When you join Talan, you get associated with a senior consultant who acts as your “Talan Buddy”. I will always remember the help I received during the first months.

6. Which person inspires you the most? Who would you like to work with?

Forrest Gump. Who else has the perseverance to run across America twice?
