Interview with Amine Daly, PMO at Talan

In this testimonial, Amine Daly shares his experience as a Project Management Officer at Talan.

Can you introduce yourself?

Sure, I am Amine Daly, a Senior PMO at Talan for 5 years. I am 38 years old and have 13 years of experience in program and project management, including over 9 years as a project manager. I enjoy supporting clients in their IT projects and bringing added value to their activities.

Can you tell us a bit about your professional background?

I graduated as a computer engineer in 2010 and started my career as a .NET development and design engineer at a startup. After a year, I decided to switch to consulting, because I was enthusiastic by this field.

I worked at a big IT service company as a Junior IT Service Management (ITSM) consultant for two years, during which I contributed to many projects related to IT Service Management (ITIL V3) as well as information security (ISO 27001).

Subsequently, I joined a big Audit and Consulting firm (one of the Big Four), for 3 years, as an IT AMOA IS & PMO Consultant in the Telecom, Media & Technology (TMT) Team where I had contributed to implementation and management of various IT projects, particularly in TELECOM sector in French-speaking Africa.

Then, I worked as head of the "Strategy & PMO" department at a bank for two years, which allowed me to learn how to manage short, medium, and long-term project portfolios.

Finally, since 2018, I have joined the TALAN team where I work on IT projects to support our clients in project management, especially in "Energy" and "Transport" business sectors.

What are you currently working on?

Currently, I am working on a large project for a major public transport operator as a General IT Project Manager.

This mission was started in April 2021 and had 2 main phases. My role consisted, in the first phase, in analyzing the different applications implemented by its various entities to understand the impact of major changes they are considering.

A second phase has been started since last year until now, during which I am responsible for monitoring and managing the updating of these applications to ensure that everything is done following the pre-defined and approved schedules and budgets.

As PMO of the project, I am responsible for the organization, preparation and animation of the steering and project committees in which I present detailed progress of the project to all stakeholders by presenting the schedule management and main milestones to be respected, the budget monitoring, the analysis and monitoring of project’s main risks.

In addition, I had to provide the right information at the right time to allow decision-makers and all stakeholders representing the various entities of this client to make the right decisions and communicate on any possible changes to the overall schedule, especially since this project is monitored at national scale (including the government and the Senate).

And is it good?

Yes, it is exciting and rewarding. It is a complex project given the considerable number of applications affected by these changes as well as the multitude of entities involved, and the substantial number of interlocutors involved in these changes. This has allowed me to increase my skills and enrich my professional career.

What is your favorite part of the day?

My favorite part of the day is also the most important for starting my workday: it's the morning coffee! This allows me to get in the right mindset to face the day ahead.

Where do you see yourself in two years?

In two years, I see myself continuing to work on strategic and high-value projects for our clients. I also have the ambition to progress towards managerial responsibilities.

Do you have a strong memory associated with Talan?

Yes, I have many strong memories associated with Talan, but I would say that team building events are my favorite. Whether with the team from our TSE-DELIVERY division or with colleagues from other Talan entities in the Southeast, we organize interesting events such as Laser Tag, Escape Rooms, Paintball, ...etc., to share a friendly moment with others, outside of daily work activities.

Any final words?

It is not without reason that Talan is several times in the Great Place To Work ranking. I am proud to be part of the TALAN team.
